TFA Housing

A master plan for a 47,000 sf Teach for America campus in Washington D.C. Aspiring to produce an alternative to conventional mixed use urban developments, the building encircles the site’s edge to establish a street perimeter while remaining open at its core. Large entryways on all sides connect to the surrounding neighborhood and directly leading to a public inner court lined with shared amenities and retail. The building’s thin floor plan maximizes natural light and ventilation throughout, while defining a courtyard that would anchor an active urban hub for the community. With multiple entry points along its edge, the building establishes a new porous gateway to the rapidly changing landscape of the Capital City Market neighborhood.
