Three Room House

A small rural retreat from the city that responds to the desire to limit what we bring to nature in order to heighten its appreciation.

Three volumes of different sizes outline a compact footprint for the house to maximize its closeness to nature while minimizing its impact on the site. Focusing outward and bringing the outdoors in, large windows in each space frame different features of the surrounding landscape: an open field, a forest and a small clearing. The largest volume serves as the main living space with a lofted sleeping area above, the mid-sized one offers flexible use and privacy, while the third and smallest room, efficiently houses essential services for the house..

The house is designed as a counterpoint to city life with a deeper connection with nature and its seasonal changes over time.
